Sheila E., whose real name is Sheila Cecelia Escovedo, is of French Creole, African and Mexican ancestry. She was born in Oakland, California in 1957 and is the 1st Percussionist to receive a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Her Godfather is Tito Puente which makes complete sense.

It’s No wonder why she’s so prolific with music, Sheila E's uncles credits include Javier Escovedo, founder of seminal San Diego punk act The Zeros;
Alejandro Escovedo, founder of seminal San Francisco punk band The Nuns;
Mario Escovedo, who fronted long-running indie rockers The Dragons; and
Coke Escovedo who was in Santana and formed the band Azteca.
Nicole Richie is Sheila E.'s biological niece, the daughter of Sheila's musician brother, Peter Michael Escovedo.
What a wild life to be surrounded by so much talent.
